a four friends wedding

This is a picture of four friends. We four friends went to Auburn together. We were all Chi O's together. Jenny, Rose Lynn, me and Rachel. And now, one of the four friends is about to have a new last name. I'm southbound tomorrow for Jenny's big day on Saturday. I can't believe it's finally here! I remember sitting in Mollie Hollifield in Spring of 2007 in Jenny & Rachel's dorm room trying to help Jenny think up a clever way of asking Andy to our Chi O formal (because Chi O's always seemed to ask their dates in a fun, creative way...). She ended up dropping off a huge care package for him at RBD library one night while he was studying, the basket was full of candy and clues to what she was inviting him. And...now they're getting hitched! My, how time flies when you're having fun. I'm so excited to celebrate these two on their special day!

war cam eagle

Sadly, it's been a while since I've been in the "true" football spirit. (Sorry, Rose!) People get excited about football in New York, but not like they do in the south, especially for the Iron Bowl! As an added bonus of getting to go home for Thanksgiving, the Iron Bowl was a mere 15 minute ride from home this year. Even more ironically, several good friends from Auburn migrated west after college and now call T-town home so I was able to spend the day cheering on the Auburn Tigers with college friends! I've never been so frazzled watching a game and so ecstatic all in the same moment, but I was this year for the 28-27 victory! It felt good to be back in the spirit!!
And I can't forget, even though they were wearing crimson and houndstooth, it was also great to catch up with some old friends from high school!

But, still, War Eagle!!!

if you love auburn & football

you will love this ESPN clip. I generally don't watch Gameday on Saturday mornings (unless, of course, they're in Tuscaloosa or on the Plains) but I tuned in to see Erin Andrews' Halloween costume and turned it on seconds before they started this video. Not expecting such an emotional and moving piece, I was caught completely off guard and found myself sobbing in front of the television when hearing these two players recount their story. Check it out, you'll be inspired.

loveliest village on the plains

A good friend from high school (who graduated from the University of Alabama) texted me this picture last week with the single caption:

"Do you know where this is?"

Of course, I do: Auburn, Alabama. One of my favorite places on earth. You know what gave it away? The orange and blue sky. Every time.

au singer show in nyc!

Tonight, Brendan and I went to an Auburn Singers performance at St. Malachy's church in the Theater District. It was a great show and a great performance (and ever-so-kind of Brendan to accompany me). I also got to see one of my baby hoots, Sarah Beth (she is second from the left in the above picture), perform which was a real joy! It made me miss Auburn and college and all of the great memories and friends I have from there and also feel very inspired by all the talent and beautiful voices surrounding me. I sure hope to be back on the plains soon, but tonight was close enough!

southeast tour

Last week I spent the entire week in the South with 80 degree temperatures and sunshine every day. It was a great getaway from the city and I was able to make my rounds to a few different places while I was there. On Thursday I traveled down to the loveliest village on the plains, saw some friends, (felt really old when I walked down the concourse), and had lunch at Big Blue Bagel with Rose Lynn and Anna before heading on to Atlanta to pick up Brendan from the airport. Then we spent the rest of the week with my family (Buck and Christine were down from NJ, and sadly we missed my sister and her family who didn't make it from Kentucky) and did lots of outdoor activities to soak in the sun and Easter-y things. It was hard coming back to the city on Monday but it was a wonderful trip home!

Much to Anna and Rose Lynn's amusement, I went a little Chi O crazy when I got back to Auburn. I hadn't seen the new dorms or chapter room and it was all beautiful, but I definitely felt like a stranger there because it was all SO different. Big Blue, Spidle Hall, and Lupton (my freshman dorm), however, remained exactly the same as when I left them.
Almost everyone was home for Easter!
I'm not sure who won the egg hunt, but Tate looks like he is getting things under his control...
Besides Tate drinking the egg dye and me spilling an entire cup all over everyone (after I had made sure to tell all the kids numerous times to be extra careful not to spill anything because it would stain...) we had a fun Easter egg dying session!
Tate loved his blue egg!
Pretty Easter outfits with Mayce, McKay and Tate.
We had a more unconventional Easter lunch on Sunday after my mom cooked a delicious Easter meal on Saturday for lunch. After church we went to Dreamland BBQ so Brendan could experience true, southern BBQ at its finest! Then Mayce fell asleep.

It was a wonderful Easter week!!

spring break in sophomore year of the real world

If you noticed my last post you will know the reason for the week-long hiatus from blogging. It was spring break at Auburn, so I took it as a personal spring break, too. Rose Lynn, Mary Pat, Mel and the two grandmothers spent 4 days in the Big Apple, while I tagged along. It was a fun week (which was proven by the amount of hours I slept this weekend...) and now I'm left with rainy, cold weather and no Rose Lynn...what to do?
