feeling sheepish

I'm feeling a little sheepish around these parts these days. I only posted on this blog 3 times during the month of September, and if the truth comes out, I barely posted anything all summer, really. Now it's been so long I hardly even know what to write about anymore. I have so many pictures and stories from the summer that I still want to share, not to mention the 500 new things that come to mind each day to post, but it's hard to jump back in again after taking an unplanned summer-long hiatus. (Where do I start? Does anyone even read this anymore?) But with the new season and a new month to ring in, I'm turning over a new leaf and feeling good about that. But no need to hold your breath; I'll be keeping my word on more blog posts coming soon, & I'm glad to have you here!

sidewalk art

These little reminders were written all over the sidewalk in my neighborhood last week. I know they made at least one person smile. Such an unexpected way of being encouraged!

reliving the 'glory days'

If there ever were a perfect description of how I've felt this week, this is it! I've had a sudden flashback to the good 'ole days in Spidle Hall where I lost track of time, dates, prior commitments and everything else that may have been deemed mildly important. But since this picture was taken in 2006, there is proof that I'll make it through this week, too!

where have I been?

Well, I'm not really sure. I've been here, but I don't think my head has been completely screwed on straight. On the bright side, the weather outside here in New York has been absolutely fantastic! I've been spending as much time as possible outside enjoying the faux-spring. I don't know what is happening with March this year, but I can assure you I'm not complaining. (It's 71 degrees today!) I also have some pretty exciting news to share soon, which will also explain why I've been busier than usual. Stay tuned! And in the meantime, look at this super cute, adorable giraffe...

And thank you, Animal Print Shop, for this cute giraffe photo!

sock bun curls

One day while searching through pinterest, I saw a picture of beautifully curled hair that looked like it must have taken hours to do with hot rollers. After reading a little more about it, I found a youtube video that gave a tutorial of how the curls were made: with a "sock bun".  It involved a few easy steps: putting your hair in a ponytail, rolling it into this "sock bun", sleeping on it, and then supposedly you came out with beautiful, perfectly curled hair. I was skeptical.

However, I braved up and tried it out yesterday for my friend's wedding (my straightener also blew up in Africa, so my options are a bit more limited), and guys, this really works!! I was blown away. I don't like to spend too much time on my hair, but this was more than easy since most of the time I was sleeping. And most of the curl stayed in my hair all night. If you're looking for a way to spiff up your hair, I highly recommend trying this trick. (You can find the tutorials in my links above.)

ghost posts

While I'm gone to Africa, I've scheduled a few surprise "ghost posts" to keep my blog going. Don't worry, though, I won't be spending any of my precious time in Africa looking at a computer screen. But there were a few events I just couldn't miss so I arranged the posting ahead of time!
