800th post!

I meant to do this way back at 500, but I guess I forgot. I can't believe this is my 800th post!! I never thought blogging would have kept my interest when I started this blog way back when as an idea LeeAnne gave me in November 2007 to make a simple countdown until I moved back to New York City.

congrats to my new favorite Dr.!

...actually my favorite THREE doctors: Mary Lindsey, Courtney and Rose Lynn! I got the pleasure of experiencing the first year of pharmacy school with these three while I was finishing up my silly old undergraduate degree at Auburn (and when I say "experiencing the first year of pharmacy school" I simply mean I lived in Auburn at the time and so did they). I was pretty excited when I graduated from Auburn after 4 grueling years of college. But I have to say, my excitement for these three actually rivaled my own excitement for myself. Congratulations Drs Newlin, Green and Farmer!!!

royal wedding fun

Katherine and I set our alarms for just before 6 am this morning so we could catch the royal wedding ceremony! It was tough to drag myself out of bed at that hour...but it helped that I was going straight to the couch. Then Kat found this video to watch while we were passing time during the "Royal Kiss" countdown. I laugh every time!

an easter brunch

I'm currently running around my apartment like a chicken with my head cut off (which seems to have been the trend all weekend...)! Katherine and I are getting our food prepared to have our fellowship groups over for an Easter brunch. I can smell the cinnamon rolls cooking now...more pictures to come later!

bowery valentine's party

Last weekend I spent my Sunday afternoon decorating the lovely dining room of an Upper East Side women's home for the Bowery Mission Women's Center. My roommate Katherine volunteers weekly with the BMWC and takes the ladies on walks every Saturday afternoon. She was instrumental in making this grand party such an immense success by her recruiting so many volunteers. The group of volunteers worked together to make a delicious meal, beautiful individual flower arrangements (by LA) and some fun (and vintage-inspired) decorations. It was one of the most fun and well-spent afternoons I've seen in a long time... watching the look of excitement and glee as the women entered the dining room and saw the beautifully planned party in their honor was a special moment!

peace, joy & a reason to celebrate

"This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.'"

Luke 2: 12-14, NIV

May you have peace and joy on this wonderful Christmas day and rejoice in the real reason to celebrate. Wishing you a Merry Christmas to you and yours!

25 and 88

As you saw in my post a couple weeks ago, my granddad and I celebrated big for our 25th and 88th birthdays! Pizza party lunch, ice cream cake, and being together when we're usually thousands of miles apart! It doesn't get much better than that! And, I even got a special treat: beautiful flowers delivered all the way from NYC! Thanks b-stud!

birthday partaaay

I have the best and most gracious friends in the world. And this year for my birthday, they blew me away again! I got to choose the venue in which to celebrate: so I picked, crafts. We went to the Little Shop of Crafts on the upper west side and painted pottery to roll in my big 2-5. I painted a bright rainbow polka dotted mug that is big enough to fit 7 cups of coffee to wake me up every morning...just what I need! We had rainbow cake, ice cream cone cupcakes (complete with trick candles), guacamole, punch...and everything else that is so quintessential Perryn. I couldn't ask for friends that know me any better or for a better way to celebrate my day! Thanks to everyone for all the love (these girls have blogs to call out: Maggie, LA, Pamela, Bethany, and Katherine, and of course those without blogs, too: Ann-Marie, Victoria, Michelle, and Megan) who did so much to make me feel so special...and colorful!
